Today, New Mexico Unites for Marriage launched a video profile of the Montoya’s, a family living in Espanola. The large family joined the campaign to support their son, brother, and uncle–openly gay Roger and his partner Salvador.

“It’s just amazing to see how happy someone can make somebody else,” says Jessica Montoya, speaking about her uncle and Sal. “And I believe that gay and lesbian couples should be able to marry.”

New Mexico Unites for Marriage is using platforms such as YouTube and Facebook to elevate the stories of real New Mexico families. We know that in order to protect marriage in our state, our legislators need to hear from you! We are running an innovative online ad program to further persuade legislators to support the decision of the state’s highest court giving everyone the freedom to marry.

“With majority support for the freedom to marry, we want legislators to understand that tampering in any way with marriage hurts families across New Mexico,” said NMUM campaign manager Robert Adams.  “As the governor has said, marriage equality is now the law of the land and we urge lawmakers to resist any fringe attempt to dilute or overturn this important and powerful decision that helps every family in New Mexico.”
